Volunteering

As a volunteer for The Laura Crane Trust you can help in many ways:

• Office work – by helping out with our day-to-day administration, such as sending out thank you letters, receipts and updating our records you are making an essential contribution to our work, while keeping our costs down. Experience in this kind of work will enhance your CV and also help you to really understand how the charity is run and the importance of our work.

• Speaking to groups – we are always eager to raise awareness of our work, and to get people involved. If you are a member of a group and feel you would be able to speak to them about The Laura Crane Trust we would be happy to speak to you about this and provide you with information packs and leaflets for the audience to take away with them. This is an easy way to raise awareness and also raise funds by asking for a donation at the end of your talk.

• Supermarket/street collections – from time to time we organise collections and obviously more people = more money!

• In hospitals – there are 23 hospitals throughout the UK and Southern Ireland that treat adolescent cancer, so wherever you live you may be able to volunteer on behalf of The Laura Crane Trust, helping out with workshops or outings. We can inform you about these kinds of opportunities as they arise. (request update)

• Fundraising Committees – A great way to have fun with your friends and raise money at the same time. Set up a fundraising committee to organise events, whether it be a raffle or a Ball, we can help you with ideas and tips on how to publicise it and maximise funds raised. We also organise our own events, our biggest one being our annual Ball, and we are always desperate for volunteers to help out.
