Charity Ambassador Sarah is Taking to the Catwalk to Promote Diversity

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust's Ambassador Sarah Dransfield, who stole viewer's hearts on Channel 4's First Dates, will be modelling for The LCYCT at an event in Elland on Sunday 17th September.

The Afternoon Tea and Treats event at Bertie's is a headline event of the charity's Spectacular September month and Sarah Dransfield will be modelling a range of eveningwear supplied by supporters at ASBCI - The Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry.

Sarah, who became an amputee at the age of 16 when her leg was removed to save her life following a diagnosis of osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer in her right knee; is keen to demonstrate that being an amputee does not prevent her from doing whatever she wants to do.

"I don't think being a model was ever my ultimate dream, but it definitely would be nice to have the choice. Plus-size models are now on the up which is great to see but they are still far and few between on the catwalk. It would be great to see more diverse models, not only is it then great for the model but also for the confidence of others who can then look up to them! I believe seeing a catwalk model with a prosthetic leg would change the world's understanding of 'disability'." Says 22 year-old Sarah.

The event starts at 2pm and guests will enjoy afternoon tea, a fashion walk-through and a selection of stands selling accessories, candles, cosmetics, hat attire  and other lovely treats.
